Programme

This three-night package is a fantastic short getaway for those who want to maximize their chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

Day 1. Arrival Day

Arrival to Ivalo Airport and transfer to Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä. Upon arrival you'll settle into your accommodation and enjoy a welcoming dinner.

Days 2.-3. Winter Activities

Husky Safari

An absolute ‘must do’ when visiting Lapland! The dogs’ excitement is infectious and as the animals fall silent on the trail, you will realize that this is the only way to see Lapland. All of our husky safaris include full instructions and are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.

Snowshoeing to Prospector Goldmine

Embark on an unforgettable snowshoeing adventure to the historic Prospector Gold Mine in Saariselkä. This guided tour takes you through the pristine, snow-covered landscapes of Lapland, offering a chance to experience the beauty and silence of the Arctic nature. As you trek through the snowy trails, your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating stories about the region's gold mining history. This unique excursion is perfect to get to know about local nature and history, providing a memorable and enriching experience in the heart of Lapland.

Snowmobile Safari

This tour is perfect shorter safari for those who have never tried snowmobiling before. First you will get familiar with the snowmobile, have full safety instructions and a driving lesson. After everyone feels comfortable, we will head out for a small journey into the nearby surroundings in Saariselkä area. There are beautiful sceneries all around in the area. During the safari we will also have a nice hot drink with tasty biscuits to keep us warm.

Aurora Camp

This activity takes you to the amazing surroundings of Saariselkä. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. This way you can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the camp site. At the camp there is a hut with an open fire to warm us up on a cold night of Aurora hunting. Your guide will also serve warm drinks to keep you heated and cozy. The camp has a minimum amount of light pollution, so it is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights that will hopefully show up in the sky.

Aurora Snowmobiling

We will head out in search of the perfect location to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. If the Northern Lights appear, we’ll stop and take in the stunning display. To keep you warm and comfortable throughout the activity, we’ll provide hot drinks as you enjoy the show in the Arctic wilderness.

Day 5. Departure Day

After breakfast you're transferred to Ivalo airport. It's time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä and head towards new adventures.

All the activities are guided group trips and start with full safety instructions.

Snowmobile safaris are based on 2 persons sharing one snowmobile.
If there is a party with an uneven number of travelers, everyone will still be on shared snowmobiles, unless single drive supplement is paid. (100€/person for max. 3h tours, 200€/person for 4–6 h tours)

Minimum age of 18 years and a valid driving license is required to drive a snowmobile during activities. Self-liability fee (own risk) is 1000 €/snowmobile in case of an accident.
During snowmobile tours children under 15 years are sitting in a sleigh.

During Husky Safari, the guests are driving the husky sleds by themselves and normally two persons are sharing one husky team (with switching driver on half way).

Please note that the above itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of the activity providers for reasons of safety or other unforeseen circumstances. Any alternative arrangements will be made so that they are as similar to the original program as possible.
