Highlights of Lapland
Day 1. Arrival Day
Arrival to Ivalo Airport and transfer by bus to Wilderness Hotel Muotka. Upon arrival you'll settle into your accommodation and enjoy a welcoming dinner.
Days 2.-4. Winter Activities
Reindeer Day with Snowmobile
We'll take snowmobiles and drive to a reindeer farm where we'll meet the reindeer herders and learn about the importance of reindeer in Lapland. You'll learn how to catch a reindeer with a "lasso" and go on a short sleigh ride pulled by the reindeer. We'll also enjoy soup lunch during the day.
Husky Safari
An absolute ‘must do’ when visiting Lapland! The dogs’ excitement is infectious and as the animals fall silent on the trail, you will realize that this is the only way to see Lapland. All of our husky safaris include full instructions and are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.
Gentle Snowshoeing
If you prefer a nice gentle walk in a beautiful snowy surrounding, this is the tour for you. We will equip you with snowshoes (and poles if preferred) and head for a nice little walk in the surroundings of the hotel. Along the way, our guide will share interesting stories and information about the Finnish nature.
Cross Country Skiing
We will get to know the skiis, how to cope with them and learn some useful techniques. This skiing tryout is all about learning something new and once you get the hang of it, it will be the nicest sport you have ever done. There’s no need to be afraid of falling over, as the soft snow will land you safely. There are lots of ready made illuminated tracks in the Muotka surroundings, so you will have a chance to go out on your own after this introductory tour.
Aurora Camp
This activity takes you to the amazing surroundings of Muotka. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. This way you can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the camp site. At the camp there is a hut with an open fire to warm us up on a cold night of Aurora hunting. Your guide will also serve warm drinks to keep you heated and cozy. The camp has a minimum amount of light pollution, so it is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights that will hopefully show up in the sky.
Aurora Snowmobiling
On this snowmobiling tour you will head to the Muotka surroundings in search of the Northern Lights. You will be heading for the open spots, where the chances of seeing the possible Aurora are the highest. Driving distance depends on the weather conditions; if the sky looks promising, we will stop and admire this beautiful show.
Day 5. Departure Day
After breakfast you're transferred to Ivalo airport. It's time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Muotka and head towards new adventures.
