Wilderness Hotels is a family-owned company with five (soon to be six) exquisite resorts in Finnish Lapland. Our hotels are located in nature’s most beautiful places: by lakes and rivers, away from light pollution and the hustle and bustle of city life.

OUR STORY: The journey of Wilderness Hotels began in the early 2000s when Mari and Jouko transformed an old school into Wilderness Hotel Nellim. Nestled in the heart of Northern Lapland, this marked the start of our adventure in nature-based tourism. Over the years, our passion for the wilderness and dedication to exceptional service have guided us in creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.

  • 2004: Wilderness Hotel Nellim, our very first location.
  • 2013: Wilderness Hotel Muotka, offering a serene destination on the fell side.
  • 2017: Wilderness Hotel Nangu, a boutique hotel concept providing a more intimate and luxurious experience for adult guests only.
  • 2017: Wilderness Hotel Inari, on the picturesque shores of Lake Inari.
  • 2022: Wilderness Hotel Juutua, together with Aanaar Restaurant, in the heart of Inari.
  • End 2025: Our journey continues with the upcoming Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä, set to open.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS: Our expertise has grown with each new destination, allowing us to offer all the services needed for the perfect holiday. We are proud to have been recognized for our efforts.

  • 2023: Lappish Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
  • 2024: Finnish Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
  • October 2024: Great Place to Work Certificate.

At Wilderness Hotels, we believe that our success is built on the foundation of our history, the trust of our guests and our passionate team who bring the magic of Lapland to life, sharing their happiness and expertise. Join us and become part of our story, where nature, luxury, and unforgettable memories come together.

No matter when you stay in Lapland, there is always something amazing happening in nature. The most well-known phenomenon is the Northern Lights, which light up the sky from autumn until early spring. In winter, you can also experience the magical polar nights, when the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon at all. As January ends, the days gradually become longer until the sun doesn’t set at all, giving you the chance to enjoy the Midnight Sun in summer. In autumn, nature prepares for winter, and you can witness the stunning autumn colors as everything turns red, yellow, orange, and purple.
