Holiday Program
Day 1. Arrival
Welcome to Lapland! You will be greeted at the airport with a hotel sign and transferred to Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä (approx. 35 min). Upon arrival, you will receive your program schedule before dinner. Depending on your arrival time, cold weather gear will be given to you either upon arrival or the next day.
Days 2.-3. Winter Activities
Meet the Huskies (1,5hrs)
Step into the world of sled dogs and meet our huskies on a guided kennel tour. Our experienced guide will introduce you to life at the kennel and share fascinating stories about the dogs — their personalities, relationships within the pack, training, work, care and everyday life. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and pet some of our youngest puppies and retired huskies, each with their own unique personality and story.To finish the experience, relax in a cosy setting with a warm cup
of hot chocolate and delicious cinnamon buns.
Meet the Reindeer (1,5hrs)
Ever wondered what it's like to be a reindeer herder? Join us for a fun and informative tour where you'll get to meet these amazing animals up close. Our friendly guide will share stories about the Sámi culture and the important role reindeer play in the North. You'll even get a chance to feed them, they might come right up and eat out of your hand! Join us for this unique way to learn more about Northern Lapland culture.
Aurora Hike (2,5hrs)
This evening, our guide leads us on a gentle hike into the beautiful Urho Kekkonen National Park. The trail is easy to walk and suitable for everyone, making it a relaxing start to our northern lights adventure. We arrive at the cozy Aurora Hut, where our guide hosts an inspiring aurora workshop. We get to admire stunning photographs of the northern lights and listen to fascinating stories and facts about this magical phenomenon. And if luck is on our side, we may even step outside to witness the aurora shimmering across the night sky.
Day 4. Departure Day
After breakfast you're transferred to Ivalo airport. It's time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä and head towards new adventures.
