Programme
Day 1. Arrival Day
Arrival to Ivalo Airport and transfer by bus to Wilderness Hotel Muotka. Upon arrival you will settle into your accommodation and enjoy a welcoming dinner.
Days 2.-7. Winter Activities
Snowmobile Adventure
Snowmobiling in Muotka is unforgettable. There is plenty of white snow, lots of tracks and beautiful sceneries all around. On this snowmobiling tour we will spend most of our time on snowmobiles exploring the fells. During the day we will also have lunch and hot drinks to keep us warm. Could there be a better way to spend a winter day?
Reindeer Day with Snowmobile
We’ll take snowmobiles and drive to a reindeer farm where we’ll meet the reindeer herders and learn about the importance of reindeer in Lapland. You’ll learn how to catch a reindeer with a “lasso” and go on a short sleigh ride pulled by the reindeer. We’ll also enjoy soup lunch during the day.
Husky Safari
An absolute ‘must do’ when visiting Lapland! The dogs’ excitement is infectious and as the animals fall silent on the trail, you will realize that this is the only way to see Lapland. All of our husky safaris include full instructions and are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.
Snowshoeing Adventure
On this activity we will head to the forests and hills that are surrounding Muotka. The forest is beautiful winter wonderland and the silence is like anywhere else. During the trip, the guide will share interesting stories and information about Finnish nature and animals. On the way, we will stop to enjoy lunch and warm drinks by the open fire. This trip is perfect for photographers and nature lovers, as snowshoeing is a true eco-activity!
Aurora Camp
This activity takes you to the amazing surroundings of Muotka. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. This way you can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the camp site. At the camp there is a hut with an open fire to warm us up on a cold night of Aurora hunting. Your guide will also serve warm drinks to keep you heated and cozy. The camp has a minimum amount of light pollution, so it is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights that will hopefully show up in the sky.
Aurora Hunt by Car
On this tour, you will spend the evening searching for the Northern Lights, traveling by car, and having some warm drinks to keep you warm. Depending on weather conditions, there might be some changes on which route we select to take you to the best spots to see the Northern Lights. If the sky looks promising, we will stop and admire this beautiful show.
Aurora Snowshoeing
Experience the amazing atmosphere of old forests on this relaxing snowshoe walk to the aurora camp spot. Walking in the dark forests companied by the light of the moon and dance of the northern lights is unforgettable. Warm up by the campfire and wait for the auroras to show up, while warm drinks are prepared on the open fire.
Day 8. Departure
After breakfast you’re transferred to Ivalo Airport. Time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Muotka and head towards new adventures.
