Day 1. Arrival Day
Arrival to Ivalo Airport and transfer to our Wilderness Hotel, approx. 40 min. Enjoy welcome dinner and settle into your accommodation.
Day 2-4. Activities
Best of Lapland
We start the day with a short drive to Kiilopää Fell Centre. Once we've laced our hiking boots, we're heading straight through the gates of the famous National Park " Urho Kekkonen". Your guide will decide on the best route for the day depending on the weather and trail conditions. Prepare for a moderate climb to the summit of Kiilopää. During the hike you will learn about the stunning nature and wildlife in the tundra and fells. A delicious open fire lunch will be prepared and served during the activity. Moderate climb, intermediate difficulty.
River Sauna
After your day you will have chance to enjoy a Finnish sauna experience and dip into the fresh river water.
Tankavaara Goldrush Day
We will take a short drive from the hotel to the nearby Goldvillage of Tankavaara. We will take a visit to the Gold Museum which is the only international museum in the world displaying past and present of gold panning and prospecting. Afterwards we will catch some fresh air during a short hike that leads us into a part of the Urho Kekkonen National Park. The trails are easy and we might be able to spot some wildlife. A tasty soup-lunch at the local restaurant will give us new energy for our last activity of the day - Gold panning! Gold prospectors have been searching for gold in Lapland for 150 years and in Tankavaara Gold Village, they still continue this unique culture by teaching the secrets of gold panning to visitors every year. They even borrow you all the equipment needed and you can keep all the gold you find!
Aurora Workshop
In the evening we will have aurora workshop where our expert guides will tell us almost everything we need to know about northern lights. Our guide will also explain how you get your own camera (or phone) optimised for photographing northern lights.
Aurora Camp
After dinner we will go out for Aurora hunting excursion and hope that we are blessed with dancing lights. This trip takes you to one of the specifically chosen spots, where we will try to catch the Northern Lights. We will also prepare some tasteful pancakes by bonfire during the trip.
Day 5. Departure Day
After breakfast you're transferred to Ivalo airport. It's time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Muotka and head towards new adventures.
