Holiday Program

Day 1. Arrival Day

Welcome to Lapland! You will be greeted at the airport with a hotel sign and transferred to Wilderness Hotel Kieppi (approx. 35 min). Upon arrival, you will receive your program schedule before dinner. Depending on your arrival time, cold weather gear will be given to you either upon arrival or the next day.

Days 2.-7. Winter Activities

Husky safari

A husky safari is a must-do experience when visiting Saariselkä! Before setting off, you'll receive full instruction on handling the sled, then embark on an unforgettable journey as the eager huskies pull you through stunning winter landscapes. Their excitement is contagious, and as they settle into silence on the trail, you'll discover why this is truly the best way to explore Lapland.

Reindeer Day with Snowmobile

We’ll take snowmobiles and drive to a reindeer farm where we’ll meet the reindeer herders and learn about the importance of reindeer in Lapland. You’ll learn how to catch a reindeer with a “lasso” and go on a short sleigh ride pulled by the reindeer. We’ll also enjoy soup lunch during the day.

Snowshoeing adventure

Ice Fishing Trip by snowmobile

After a snowmobiling lesson and safety instructions, we will embark on a serene day trip filled with ice fishing and breathtaking scenery. We'll take you to the prime spots for catching fish and try our luck.
Once we reach the lake, your guide will teach you the best techniques for ice-fishing while they prepare a delicious lunch over an open fire. If you’re lucky enough to catch some fish, the guides will happily cook them as part of the meal, adding a special touch to your authentic Arctic experience.

Aurora Camp

This activity takes you to the amazing surroundings of Saariselkä. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. This way you can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the campsite. At the camp there is a hut with an open fire to warm us up on a wintry night of Aurora hunting. Your guide will also serve warm drinks to keep you heated and cozy. The camp has a minimum amount of light pollution which makes it perfect for viewing the Northern Lights that hopefully show up in the sky.

Aurora Snowmobiling

We will head out in search of the perfect location to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. If the Northern Lights appear, we’ll stop and take in the stunning display. To keep you warm and comfortable throughout the activity, we’ll provide hot drinks as you enjoy the show in the Arctic wilderness.
The driver of the snowmobile must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver license.

Aurora Hunt by car

Aurora Hunt by Car is one of our popular Aurora gazing activities. We’ll set out to chase the northern lights by car, heading to a specific location with hopefully clear skies for the best chance to witness this spectacular phenomenon. If the weather isn't ideal, we’ll travel further to find clearer skies. Along the way, the guide will serve warm drinks and snacks, making it a cozy and memorable adventure in search of the magical Auroras.

Day 5. Departure Day

After breakfast you're transferred to Ivalo airport. It's time to say goodbye to Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä and head towards new adventures.

All the activities are guided group trips and start with full safety instructions.

During Husky Safari, the guests are driving the husky sleds by themselves and normally two persons are sharing one husky team (with switching driver on half way).
